Common questions
Do I need an account?
No. Breakfast Ball works fully without one, and in local-only mode your golf data stays on your device. Signing in (Apple or Google) is optional — it turns on cloud backup & sync, so your rounds, courses, profile, and handicap survive a lost phone.
How do I delete my data?
Open the app → Settings → Delete Account & All Data. That permanently erases every round, score, shot, course, and profile on your device — and, if you ever signed in, your cloud account and every server-side record, immediately. Your Sign in with Apple link goes too. It cannot be undone. Want a copy first? Settings → Export My Data.
Why does the app need Health and Location access?
Location powers GPS yardages and shot stamping during a round. The Apple Watch starts an Apple Health “Golf” workout when you tee off, which is what tracks heart rate, steps, distance, and active energy alongside your scorecard. Both are optional — you can revoke access any time in iOS Settings. Your workout and heart-rate data stay in Apple Health on your device; the round’s summary stats (steps, distance walked, active calories), shot locations, and GPS trail are saved with your round, which is backed up to your private cloud account only while you’re signed in. Where does my data live?
On your device first — the app is local-first and fully usable without an account. If you sign in, your golf data is also backed up to a private cloud database (operated for us by Supabase, hosted in the US) so it can sync and survive a lost phone; only your signed-in account can read it. We don’t sell your data or run any ads or analytics, and your Health data never leaves your device. The Privacy Policy has the full breakdown.
What do other players see when we play together?
In a live shared round: your display name, avatar, hole-by-hole scores, and side-game standings — that’s the point. Never your GPS trail, shot locations, or Health data. Friends you add by QR code or link see your name and avatar only.
Is there a subscription?
No. Free at launch, no ads, no in-app purchases, no subscription. The app is the app.
